Suspect Held For Threatening To Share Images Of Two Students In Iran

Police officer Muhammet Boğa of the Morphou Judicial Branch presented the facts of the case before the Morphou District Court. Boğa said the offences under investigation were of a serious nature and that inquiries were continuing, with findings submitted to the court.

According to information provided by police, on 26 January 2026 the suspect allegedly recorded headscarf-free images of Iranian nationals N.T. and S.H., both students at the Cyprus Community and Health Sciences University, without their consent at a café named No:83 located on the university campus in Morphou.

It was stated that the suspect threatened to share the images in Iran, telling the victims that he would send the footage to Iranian authorities because they were dressed openly. Police said he thereby threatened violence aimed at damaging their reputation and violated their right to privacy.

Police further reported that the suspect was arrested the same day under a detention order and that two mobile phones in his possession were seized as evidence.

Investigators noted that there are surveillance camera recordings that must be examined and that further offences may be uncovered following forensic analysis of the mobile phones.

Police told the court that releasing the suspect could negatively affect the investigation and stressed the importance of keeping him in custody to ensure that the inquiry is conducted properly.

After evaluating the facts of the case, Morphou District Court Judge Nuray Necdet ordered that Amiralı Behboudi be remanded in police custody for three days.
