Simon Aykut Expected To Be Transferred To Israel This Week
Simon Mistriel Aykut, CEO of AFIK Group, who was sentenced to prison in South Cyprus over cases involving former Greek Cypriot properties in Northern Cyprus, is expected to be transferred to Israel this week to serve the remainder of his sentence.
Greek Cypriot media reported that the Greek Cypriot administration is likely to approve the request submitted by Israeli authorities for Aykut’s transfer.
According to the newspaper Politis, Israeli media have published extensive coverage of the case, stating that the transfer process could be completed within the week based on these reports.
The Israeli coverage also referred to a statement by Greek Cypriot Justice Minister Kostas Fitiris, who said that the Greek Cypriot administration would comply with the request made by Israel for Aykut to serve the rest of his sentence there.
