Andreas Papatisu was tried at the Nicosia District Court on charges of unlawful possession of explosive materials. The court ordered him to sign a bail bond of 1 million Turkish lira and to maintain good behavior for a period of five years. No prison sentence was imposed.

Papatisu was detained after reportedly entering Northern Cyprus territory near Alaykoy without realizing he had crossed the boundary, leading to charges of violating a military restricted zone. The court ruled that the separate case concerning the military zone violation will be heard at the Military Court in Nicosia on February 19.

The ruling was delivered by Judge Zehra Yakkut Bilgec.
