The letter was sent following Christodoulides’ one-on-one meeting earlier today with Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman.

In his message, Christodoulides stressed that neither the EU Council Presidency nor the electoral process would in any way affect the immediate restart of talks on the Cyprus problem.

According to Greek Cypriot media, Christodoulides also conveyed his readiness to meet Guterres in March in order to advance the peace process and submitted a five-point proposal aimed at relaunching negotiations.

The proposals include presenting the convergences achieved in previous rounds of talks, convening the next informal expanded meeting, restarting formal negotiations, and opening four new crossing points.

Christodoulides further reiterated his commitment to the agreed parameters of a settlement, emphasizing a solution based on a single sovereignty, single citizenship, and full guarantees of independence and territorial integrity.

He added that any settlement framework must explicitly exclude division or secession.
