South Cyprus Reports 1.2% Annual Increase in Harmonized Consumer Price Index for January
Data from the Statistical Service of the Republic of Cyprus indicate that the Harmonized Consumer Price Index (HCPI) in January 2026 rose by 1.2% compared to January of the previous year.
According to a report published in Fileleftheros, the largest annual increases were observed in entertainment, sports, and culture at 5.8%, followed by restaurants and accommodation services at 4.8%, and education services at 3.4%.
The biggest annual decline was recorded in clothing, which fell by 6.2%.
On a monthly basis, compared to December 2025, the highest price increase was in food and non-alcoholic beverages at 3.7%, while the steepest drop was again in clothing, at 12.1%.
