Christodoulides Signs ‘One Europe, One Market’ Roadmap On Behalf Of EU Member States
President Nikos Christodoulides signed the “One Europe, One Market” roadmap on behalf of all 27 EU member states at the Filoxenia Conference Centre in Nicosia on Friday, alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola.
The signing confirms a joint commitment by the EU’s three main institutions to a stronger, more competitive and more resilient European economy, the Presidency said in a statement.
According to the Presidency, the roadmap sets out a coherent strategic framework combining the deepening of the Single Market, stronger trade relations, support for European industry, and the promotion of the green and digital transition. The EU institutions assume joint political and operational responsibility for implementing reforms that will deliver tangible and measurable results for citizens and businesses, with clear timelines to 2027, the statement said.
In a post on social media, Christodoulides said the roadmap includes 42 specific actions — legislative and policy initiatives with clear timelines — organised across five strategic pillars: simplification of rules, deepening the single market, strengthening trade policy, reducing energy costs while advancing decarbonisation, and accelerating digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
He said particular weight was being given to the implementation mechanism, with progress on the actions to be monitored by a joint steering group of the three institutions, providing continuity, accountability and institutional depth to the initiative.
