Father Arrested Over Alleged Illegal Crossing And Child Abduction Case
Ö.O. (M-26), who was reported in the media to have unlawfully crossed into the south of Cyprus and taken his child from the mother, has been arrested on charges of entering a first-degree military restricted zone without permission, violating regulations, and leaving the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) without authorisation.
In response to questions from the Turkish Cypriot News Agency (TAK), the Police Press Office said the media reports were treated as an official tip-off, prompting police action. Officers subsequently located Ö.O. together with his child in Famagusta.
The Police Press Office also stated that the Social Services Department was involved in the case, and it has been decided that the child will remain in a home environment under the care of the paternal grandmother.
Authorities confirmed that Ö.O. has been detained on charges related to illegal entry into a first-degree military restricted area, breach of regulations, and leaving the TRNC without official permission.
