Erhürman said the five core areas of the Presidency’s role, repeatedly highlighted during and after the election period, continue to guide his work, adding that efforts will remain focused on contributing to a solution process in line with the will of the Turkish Cypriot people.

He noted that developments over the past seven months in office have been shared with the public in a timely manner, underlining a commitment to transparency.

Reiterating the five main pillars of his approach, Erhürman said the Presidency would continue to act in accordance with the public’s mandate for a settlement and the methodology presented during the election campaign.

He said his administration will work on confidence-building measures and the removal of human rights restrictions affecting citizens, while also ensuring that the Turkish Cypriot community is connected with the wider world and that efforts to end international isolation continue.

Erhürman added that relations with Turkey would be managed through dialogue and diplomacy on a sound basis, and that domestic issues affecting citizens would not be dismissed on the grounds of limited authority, stressing the use of constitutional powers where necessary.

He also underlined his commitment to a leadership style based on “seriousness, diplomacy, dialogue, patience, calmness and determination,” rejecting confrontational politics.

Referring to participation in the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Kazakhstan, Erhürman said the invitation and observer status representation marked an important development within the third pillar of his foreign engagement efforts.

He said this was the first invitation of its kind and described the opportunity to present views at the summit as significant, adding: “We will neither exaggerate nor underestimate its importance.”

Erhürman noted that engagement under this framework would continue not only within the Organization of Turkic States, but also through contacts with the Islamic Cooperation Organization, the European Union, the Council of Europe, and bilateral meetings with various countries.

Concluding his remarks, Erhürman said his administration would never abandon “seriousness, patience, calmness and determination,” reiterating that they would continue seeking solutions through diplomacy and dialogue rather than confrontation.
