Yılmaz: “The Century of Turkey Will Also Be the Century of the TRNC”
Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz said the “Century of Turkey” vision would also mark a new era for the TRNC following talks in Ankara on energy cooperation between Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot side.
In a statement shared on social media after meeting Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Yılmaz said the two sides had comprehensively reviewed joint energy projects aimed at strengthening the TRNC’s energy security and increasing electricity production capacity.
Turkey’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar also attended the meeting.
Yılmaz said one of the key objectives of the “Century of Turkey” vision put forward by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was the development of a strong and prosperous TRNC.
“The Century of Turkey will also be the century of the TRNC,” Yılmaz stated.
According to the statement, discussions covered a range of energy projects, including mobile power plants, the planned electricity cable connection between Turkey and the TRNC, maintenance and technical support efforts, and ongoing work related to natural gas infrastructure.
Yılmaz thanked the institutions involved in the projects and said he hoped the initiatives would prove beneficial for the Turkish Cypriot people.
