İncirli: Relations with Turkey Will Be Based on Mutual Respect
Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Sıla Usar İncirli has said that under a CTP government, relations with Turkey will be conducted on the basis of mutual respect, consultation and institutional cooperation, stressing that strategic issues must be addressed jointly through state institutions.
Speaking on Haber Toplantısı, a programme on Kanal Sim hosted by Mert Özdağ and Ertuğrul Senova, İncirli made an assessment of current political and economic developments.
She said her party’s goal was to “save the country,” arguing that the current system had created inequality and served the interests of a small group.
“The day of accountability is approaching”
İncirli criticised the long-standing governance model, claiming that public services had weakened and inequality had deepened. She said people were increasingly unhappy and insecure, while a small segment of society benefited from the current order.
She said the CTP was not only criticising the situation but also preparing a comprehensive transformation plan, adding that significant work had been completed on anti-corruption measures.
“The day of accountability is approaching. Those who are responsible will be held to account,” she said, adding that a CTP government would also establish institutional safeguards to prevent future corruption.
Economic reforms and fiscal discipline
Commenting on the economy, İncirli said fiscal discipline had collapsed and the country had been left with a heavy debt burden.
She argued that salaries, interest payments and debt were being covered through new borrowing, adding that the party was working with academics, experts, economists and sector representatives on economic policy.
“We are coming to save the country,” she said, adding that the first priority would be to stop the economic deterioration. She pledged to restore fiscal discipline, balance revenues and expenditures, and fight inflation and the cost of living.
“We will eliminate the informal economy”
İncirli said trust was essential for economic stability and pledged that decision-making under a CTP government would be transparent, accountable and data-driven.
She also highlighted tax inequality, saying citizens had lost trust in the system. “People are asking why they should pay taxes, because there is no trust,” she said.
She added that the informal economy was a major problem and said, “Our political will is clear. We will eliminate informality.”
Election timing and political system
Commenting on election debates, İncirli said citizens should be active participants in governance, not only during elections.
She criticised uncertainty over the electoral calendar, arguing that holding general and local elections together in December would create technical and democratic difficulties.
She said the most appropriate option would be to hold general elections in June.
Cyprus issue and relations with Turkey
Addressing developments in Turkey and the Cyprus issue, İncirli emphasised the importance of the rule of law, democracy and institutional governance.
She said they were closely following democratic developments in Turkey and reiterated that the Turkish Cypriot side’s commitment to a solution remained clear.
“The Turkish Cypriot people’s will for a solution is clear,” she said, adding that the island’s full potential could not be realised without a settlement.
On energy issues, İncirli said natural gas was a necessity but stressed that such strategic matters required coordination and strong political will.
She said that under a CTP government, relations with Turkey would be based on mutual respect, consultation and institutional cooperation, particularly on strategic issues.
She concluded by calling for hope and unity, saying: “This change will happen. We will improve step by step. There is very little time left.”
