Turkey Open World Cup Campaign With 2–0 Defeat To Australia
Turkey’s national football team began its FIFA World Cup Group D campaign with a 2–0 defeat against Australia.
Australia took control of the match with goals from Irankunda in the 27th minute and Metcalfe in the 75th, securing all three points in the opening round.
Following the result, the United States top the group with three points and a +3 goal difference, while Australia sit second on the same points. Turkey are third with a -2 goal difference, ahead of Paraguay, who are bottom of the group after a 3–0 loss to the United States.
Turkey will next face Paraguay on Saturday, June 20, at 06:00, before concluding their group stage campaign on Friday, June 26, at 05:00.
