74 Traffic Accidents in the Past Week: 27 Injured

According to a statement from the Police Press Office, the incidents took place between 14 and 20 July. Of the 74 accidents recorded, 19 resulted in injuries and 55 in property damage. In total, 27 individuals were injured in the accidents involving personal harm.

Breakdowns of the accident causes reveal that 25 were due to speeding, 17 to careless driving, 14 to failure to stop at junctions, 9 to tailgating, and another 9 to various other reasons.

The total damage from these accidents was reported as 3,156,842 Turkish Lira. Regionally, 26 accidents occurred in Kyrenia, 16 in Nicosia, 16 in Famagusta, 14 in İskele, and 2 in Güzelyurt.

13,187 Drivers Inspected, 2,075 Reported

During the same period, a total of 13,187 drivers were checked across the country in traffic inspections, with 2,075 of them reported for traffic offences. Of those, 259 vehicles were taken off the road and 10 drivers were arrested.

Speeding was the most common violation, followed by driving without a valid road tax certificate and other infractions. The breakdown of reported offences is as follows:
