Gunfire and Arson Attack on Car Rental Firm in Pyla Leaves Four Vehicles Destroyed

Two assailants targeted a car rental business in Pyla in the early hours of Thursday, opening fire on the security guard before setting four parked vehicles ablaze.

According to Greek Cypriot police, the masked attackers arrived in a vehicle, with one carrying a firearm and the other a fuel canister. The gunman fired a single shot into the guard’s office, hitting a pillar just beside him, before forcing him to the ground. The pair then doused four cars with flammable liquid and set them on fire.
The blaze was extinguished by firefighters, and police collected evidence at the scene. Authorities are investigating possible links between this incident and a series of recent violent crimes in the area, including a shooting in Oroklini on 8 August, an attempted murder in Mormenekşe on 31 July, and a gun attack in Pyla on 14 July.
