Lawyer of Five Detained Greek Cypriots Arrested at Ercan

Lawyer Murat Metin Hakkı was arrested upon entering the country at Ercan Airport over allegations of sharing personal data with authorities in South Cyprus concerning property issues. Hakkı is reportedly linked to the judicial process involving five Greek Cypriots who were detained on July 19.

According to information obtained by Kıbrıs Postası, Hakkı was taken into custody under an existing police order as soon as he arrived in Northern Cyprus. He is accused of having connections with the five Greek Cypriots since the beginning and is said to have left the country around the time of their arrests, only returning recently.
Hakkı, who has been outside the TRNC for approximately one and a half months, was immediately detained upon his return.
