Northern Cyprus Reports August Inflation at 3.35%, Annual Rate Hits 35.42%

The TRNC State Planning Organization announced that consumer prices rose 3.35% in August, bringing the annual inflation rate to 35.42%. Compared to December 2024, prices increased 25.59%, while year-on-year growth reached 35.42%.

Vegetables saw the steepest increases, with tomatoes up 216.79%, bell peppers 136.43%, and charleston peppers 127.22%. The largest price declines were in fresh okra (-35.01%), state theatre tickets (-33.33%), and arugula (-12.12%).
By main expenditure categories, food and non-alcoholic beverages led monthly increases at 10.72%, followed by miscellaneous goods and services (5.47%), restaurants and hotels (3.15%), health (2.95%), furniture, household appliances, and maintenance (2.93%), education (2.35%), and transport (1.58%). Clothing and footwear prices fell 1.79%.
Of the 507 items tracked in the index, 81 saw price decreases, while the rest experienced increases.
