Yılmaz Urges Turkic States to Strengthen Ties With TRNC
Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz called on members of the Organization of Turkic States (TDT) to strengthen relations with the TRNC during a meeting in Baku. “We should regard the TRNC as an element representing the Turkic World’s shared presence and common interests in the region,” he said.
Highlighting the impact of regional developments on countries strategically located along global transport and energy routes, Yılmaz stated: “Maintaining peace and stability in Turkic states is critical not only for sustaining regional prosperity but also for ensuring uninterrupted international trade and secure energy supply. In this context, it is more important than ever for Turkic states to act in unity on international platforms and strengthen our position in shaping regional balances.”
Yılmaz expressed his satisfaction that TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, representing the observer member, participated in the meeting. He added: “I would like to thank President Aliyev and Prime Minister Asadov for their strong support for the just cause of the Turkish Cypriot people. Strategically located Cyprus has become even more significant in light of recent developments. Therefore, we should regard the TRNC as representing the Turkic World’s shared presence and common interests in the region. I invite all esteemed members of our family council to strengthen their political, economic, and cultural ties with the TRNC, increase engagement, and support their legitimate rights in the international community.”
