Northern Cyprus Inflation Hits 37.4% in March 2026

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Northern Cyprus rose 37.4% year-on-year in March 2026, according to the Statistics Office. Compared to the previous month, prices increased by 2.18%, while year-to-date inflation since December 2025 reached 7.07%.

By major expenditure groups, transport saw the highest monthly increase at 6.89%, followed by restaurants and hotels at 4.33%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco at 3.37%, and food and non-alcoholic drinks at 3.23%. The only group to record a monthly decrease was recreation and culture, down 0.08%.

Among 442 items tracked in the index, 163 saw price declines. The largest price increases were for entry fees to historical buildings (+200%), passport costs (+51.8%), and kerosene (+39.15%). The biggest decreases were in fresh broad beans (-27.32%), arugula (-24.95%), and fresh peas (-22.88%).
