Unemployment Rate in Turkey Rises To 8.2 Percent
According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), Turkey’s unemployment rate rose by 0.1 percentage points in April compared to the previous month, reaching 8.2 percent.
The number of unemployed people aged 15 and over decreased by 5,000 month-on-month to 2.868 million, TÜİK said.
Despite the monthly increase, the unemployment rate fell by 0.5 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
The unemployment rate was estimated at 6.8 percent for men and 11 percent for women.
In the 15–24 age group, the youth unemployment rate fell by 0.8 percentage points to 14.5 percent in April. It stood at 12 percent for men and 19.4 percent for women in this age group.
