Reports citing the Narcotics Service of the Cyprus Police say the amount represents a significant increase compared to last year, when a total of 52 kilograms of drugs were confiscated throughout the entire year.

South Cyprus Police Narcotics Unit Director Christos Andreou said there has been a noticeable rise in cannabis and cocaine circulation.

He noted that the majority of seizures involved cannabis and cocaine, while also pointing to the emergence of a growing presence of the stimulant drug “captagon” in the illegal market.

According to reports, around 1,000 captagon pills have been confiscated since the beginning of the year.
