Food Inspection Results: Pesticides Found in 8 Imported and 5 Local Products

According to the Ministry of Agriculture's food inspection results for the period of September 20-26, pesticides were detected in eight imported and five local products. The inspections revealed that out of 68 samples taken from imported products, 60 were found to be clean, while pesticide levels exceeded limits in eight samples.

From the 21 samples taken from local products, 16 were clean, but one sample showed excessive levels of pesticide, and four samples contained pesticide residues not recommended for use.

Following the detection of excessive pesticide levels in black grapes from Mehmet Çelebi, the product was destroyed at the company's request. Similarly, peaches from SVS Tic. Ltd. were found to have excessive pesticide levels and were returned to their country of origin. Products from Onbaşı İşl. Ltd. also had excessive pesticide levels in peaches and pears, leading to decisions to either return the products to their origin or destroy them.

Additionally, two peach samples from Halil Kasap Pazarlama were found to contain excessive pesticide levels, resulting in a decision to return or destroy these products. Sesame from Erol Şah and peaches from Bekir Cura were also found to have excessive pesticide levels and are undergoing similar measures.

Local Products: Pesticides Detected in Pomegranates and Celery

Among the local products, of the 21 samples tested, 16 were found to be clean. However, one sample showed excessive pesticide levels, while four contained non-recommended pesticide residues.

In the case of pomegranates from Fahri Keskin, a resident of Güzelyurt, the product was destroyed due to the detection of non-recommended pesticide residues. In Bostancı, the harvest of pomegranates from Emirzade Günsel was halted until the next laboratory analysis after excessive pesticide levels were found.

Furthermore, three different celery samples from Mustafa Karagözlü in Yıldırım village were destroyed after non-recommended pesticide residues were detected.
