PACE Representatives Hold Working Meeting at the Republic Assembly

Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) at the Republic Assembly held a working meeting with the Turkish Delegation, focusing on the Immovable Property Commission and arrests carried out by South Cyprus.

According to information from the Assembly, the meeting at the Republic Assembly was opened by National Unity Party (UBP) MP Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, who expressed great pleasure in hosting the Turkish Grand National Assembly’s PACE delegation. Hasipoğlu emphasized that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe remains the only platform where he and Armağan Candan can make the voice of the Turkish Cypriot people heard.
Stressing that the injustices and restrictions imposed on the Turkish Cypriot people continue, Hasipoğlu highlighted the importance of support from Turkish parliamentarians in Strasbourg, committee meetings, and Paris. He noted that the meeting would address attempts to question the effectiveness of the Immovable Property Commission and efforts by Greek Cypriot MPs in this regard.
CANBEY: "The Greek Cypriot Side Lacks Sincerity"
Deputy Head of the Turkish Delegation to PACE, Mustafa Canbey, stated that the Cyprus issue has long been discussed but remains unresolved due to the insincere attitude of the Greek Cypriot side. Canbey emphasized that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) continues to make its voice heard on the international stage through its strong relations with Turkey.
He also underlined ongoing efforts to advocate for the recognition of the TRNC as an equal and sovereign state, as well as the issue of immovable properties, the reopening of Varosha, and other key concerns. Canbey affirmed that reports are being prepared to continue supporting the TRNC.
Following the speeches, the meeting proceeded with discussions.
