Sıla Usar İncirli: "Poor Governance Keeps the TRNC from Moving Forward"

Republican Turkish Party (CTP) MP Sıla Usar İncirli criticized the current state of governance in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), saying the country is unable to get back on its feet due to mismanagement.

Speaking on Kıbrıs Postası TV, İncirli reflected on the Annan Plan referendum, noting that while the rejection by Greek Cypriots was decisive, mistakes by Turkish Cypriot leadership also played a role.
İncirli emphasized the collective power of Turkish Cypriots, referencing recent demonstrations involving 15,000 people, and linked national resilience to April 23, marking the foundation of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. She criticized symbolic gestures like letting children assume official posts, while their futures remain uncertain.
Addressing financial concerns, İncirli pointed out the expanding budget deficit and ineffective economic protocols with Turkey. She also rejected President Ersin Tatar’s accusations of "treason" against opposition figures, calling such rhetoric outdated. On the headscarf debate, İncirli dismissed it as an artificial issue, stressing the community’s longstanding tolerance.
She concluded by warning that the mishandling of the Immovable Property Commission could jeopardize international credibility.
