The post, shared yesterday, included a statement by U.S. Secretary of State Marc Rubio about the border wall, a project from the Trump era, saying, "The safest border I've ever seen." The statement was met with strong reactions.
One social media user commented, "What a disappointing post. Are you not reading the room at all? How can such a thing be shared, especially in a place like Cyprus? Your embassy is just a few hundred meters away from an illegal border you claim needs to be eliminated. There are numerous comments pointing out how shameless this post is. Maybe it's time to rethink?"
Another user stated, "A safe border? Against Mexicans? The embassy in Cyprus, in a divided country due to the Turkish 'occupation,' should be ashamed to post such statements."
