Fatal Crash on Nicosia-Trikomo Main Road: 2 Dead, 6 Injured
A serious traffic accident occurred on September 12, 2025, at around 14:45 on the Nicosia-Trikomo Highway, resulting in two fatalities and six injuries.
According to the Police Press Office, a collision took place near Gönendere village when a vehicle driven by Merve Avcı (F/31, plate SC 470) veered to the right side of the road due to inattention while heading toward Ercan. The vehicle collided head-on with a car driven by Mwamba Salem Kitoka (M/23, plate JG 463) coming from the opposite direction.
The crash claimed the lives of Kitoka and passenger Safi Divene Mavuba (F/22) at the scene.
Six others were injured and taken to hospitals: an unidentified woman to Famagusta State Hospital; a woman, a man, Merve Avcı, and two children (K.A., F/1.5 and K.A., M/1.5) were transported to Lefkoşa Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital. Their treatment is ongoing.
Police investigations into the cause of the accident continue.
