Çavuşoğlu: ‘EMU Cannot Be Sacrificed To Anyone’s Political Calculations’
Education Minister Nazım Çavuşoğlu has strongly rejected criticism directed at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), stressing that the institution cannot be made a victim of political agendas.
Responding to allegations and accusations voiced through EMU, Çavuşoğlu said the university was one of the country’s most valuable institutions and would not be surrendered to what he described as slander or cheap political polemics.
“Anyone engaging in distortion and insults through Eastern Mediterranean University should know this: EMU is the jewel of this country. It is not an institution that can be sacrificed to anyone’s political calculations, slander or cheap polemics,” Çavuşoğlu said.
He noted that the efforts made since the first day to keep the university standing were clear and on record, adding that attempts by certain circles to deny this reality would not deter them from their goals.
Emphasising that they pursued politics for the public interest rather than personal gain, Çavuşoğlu said: “We will continue to do politics not for ourselves, but for the people. Those clinging to the status quo will drown in their lies, and their proxies in their slander.”
