KTÖS: Government Represents a System of Corruption and Dirty Money
General Secretary of the Cyprus Turkish Teachers’ Union (KTÖS), Burak Maviş, strongly criticized the amendment to the Games of Chance Law, which was passed in the early hours of the morning in parliament.
Maviş accused the UBP-DP-YDP government of pushing schools to the edge of casino zones and representing a system associated with ignorance, corruption, and illicit finance.
Calling the legislative change a “coordinated blow to the children, youth, and future of society,” Maviş argued that this was not merely a legal amendment but a social assault. He said the government had effectively placed schools within casino boundaries.
He also recalled the government's recent imposition of the headscarf regulation, which KTÖS described as a step against secular education, stating, “The same mentality that undermined secularism is now bringing casinos to school walls.”
